Last night, during two small seizures, I experienced a profound vision that brought the presence of Kali, the fierce Hindu goddess known for her transformative power. In the first seizure, as I came upward into awareness, I saw her face before me, looking directly at me, her tongue outstretched in a fierce display. It was not a physical face but more like an image or vision—a picture of Kali confronting me in her full power.

In the second seizure, I saw another remarkable symbol: a strand of beads around her neck. As I observed it more closely, the strand seemed to stretch outward, disappearing into the ether as far as I could see. In that moment, I felt that this strand represented DNA itself, a symbol of our physical form and life force.

Kali’s appearance and the vision of the DNA strand carried a profound meaning. Kali, often seen as the goddess who destroys ego and illusions, represents the ultimate cleansing force. In Hindu mythology, she is the power that clears away ignorance, attachments, and the illusions of the self. Her fierce form, with her tongue extended, is a reminder of this work: to break down the ego, dissolve the barriers that separate us from the divine, and uplift the entire body temple.

The strand of DNA, symbolized by the beads around her neck, seemed to reveal the connection between the transformation of the self and the very structure of our physical being. In Gnostic and mystic traditions, there is often the idea that our body, mind, and spirit are interconnected, with each affecting the other. By “killing” the ego, as Kali is said to do, we elevate not only our spirit but also the body itself, even down to the DNA that shapes our physical existence.

This vision aligns with the Hindu concept of the “body temple”—that the body is a sacred vessel meant to house and express the divine. Kali, as the goddess of transformation, reminds us that true upliftment requires the death of the ego. The ego, which clings to identity and form, limits our ability to perceive the full reality of who we are. When Kali severs the ego, it is as though the DNA itself is freed to evolve, representing a new form of existence, one that is attuned to divine consciousness.

This experience can be understood in light of spiritual teachings that emphasize the shedding of the ego to awaken the divine self. As the mystic Rumi wrote, “The wound is the place where the light enters you.” In this vision, Kali’s fierce expression and the image of the DNA remind us that sometimes transformation is painful and challenging, yet it is through these difficult processes that true spiritual enlightenment is born. Just as the DNA contains the blueprint for physical life, our inner being carries the divine essence that can only emerge when freed from ego’s grip.

In this way, Kali stands as a guide and symbol of spiritual liberation, a fierce but compassionate force that removes illusions, allowing us to see our true selves.
